Human Rights is an issue that not many people know about. After asking a couple of people human rights questions, I got different answers.
I asked Helsy Juarez about what she thought was Human rights issue, she said that the first thing that comes to her mind is the “Golden Rule.” ”Treating others with respect is the best thing, we as humans, can do.” She feels that doing that would make the world a better place. She also told me a story, she thought was a Human Rights issue. She said that a friend of hers worked at a place and always did the right thing while he worked. One day his manager told him to do something that was against policies. He said no, but his manager forced him to by saying that he was the manager and he would fire him if he didn’t. The guy did what his manager told him to do, but in the end he was still fired. THe managers supervisor came in one day and asked went against the policy. The manager blamed the employee and he was fired.
Another guy, Kaleb Cloyd, thought of Human Rights as something slight different. He felt as if Human Rights was people changing in our Constitution and freedom of speech. He said that he witnessed, on TV, an act of what he thought was a violation of Human Rights. He saw a guy that was preaching on a sidewalk to a group of people. He said that people were just listening to him, with no riots or anything! But, the police still came and arrested him. ”That was not right, what did he do wrong?”
What do you think Human Rights is? What is Human Rights, really?
